MATERIAL SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING course introduces students a comprehensive coverage of basic fundamentals of materials science and engineering. The course focuses on material structures, properties, fabrication methods, corrosion, thermal processing and material testing mostly of metals and alloys. New fabrication method of powder metallurgy are introduces to student to cater the fabrications of devices, sensors for Industry 4.0 technology.

PHYSICAL METALLURGY covers theories on crystallography, phase diagram, imperfections in solids, heat treatment, strengthening mechanisms in metals, failure of metals as well as corrosion. It also investigates relationships existing between the structure of materials and their properties.
